![]() For construct validity, Caryln’s research leads her to conclude that the four MBTI scales make a good simple structure to yield the most accurate results consistent with the Jungian theory. All four studies indicate that the MBTI test “has moderate predictive validity in certain areas” (469). In order to determine the MBTI’s ability to predict, Carlyn examines four studies where the MBTI predicts a student’s choice of major and success in college. The findings suggest “both tests are reflecting the same basic realities, that is, the Jungian opposites which both were designed to reflect (468). In the second study, 47 male college students scores received on both the MBTI and the Gray-Wheelwright (another tool to determine Jungian types) are compared. ![]() Their self-typing results were compared to MBTI typing and it is discovered that there is a high agreement percentage. The first study asks 28 Jungian analysts to classify themselves according to the E-I, S-N, and T-F categories. For content validity, Carlyn focuses on evidence from two studies. ![]() Therefore, she examines content validity, predictive validity, and construct validity. Marcia Carlyn's article called " An Assessment of the Myers-Briggs Type Indication" claims that it is necessary to measure “the theoretical constructs of Jung’s typology,” (467) i n order to determine the validity of the MBTI test. ![]()
